Manchester United are reportedly exploring the possibility of signing a cheaper alternative to West Ham and England midfielder Declan Rice this summer.
A report on Sunday claims that the Red Devils may move for Liverpool and Arsenal target Yves Bissouma from Brighton instead.
The 24-year-old was outstanding for a Seagulls side who battled against the drop for most of last season. Indeed, his lung-busting displays have led to strong rumours that Jurgen Klopp wants him as a replacement for Gini Wijnaldum.
Bissouma would also come significantly cheaper than Rice, with the Seagulls said to be ready to accept just £30m for their star man.
The Brighton ace was statistically superior to Rice after averaging more passes, more tackles and ball recoveries per game than the England man.
The report in the Manchester Evening News states that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer likes what he saw when Graham Potter’s men lost at Old Trafford back in April.
Signing Bissouma instead of Rice would also allow United to use the money saved to land a new centre-back or striker.
The Old Trafford hierarchy has already got one deal in the bag this summer, with Jadon Sancho to sign after the Euros. And it would appear that at least two or three more additions will also be arriving at Old Trafford – one of which could be Bissouma
