The Red Devils are looking to bounce back this summer following a dismal 2021/22 campaign.

While they have ambitions to enjoy a strong first transfer window under new manager Erik ten Hag, they have been slow out of the starting blocks.

Brazilian winger Antony is a top target for Ten Hag, following the pair’s relationship at Ajax.

And according to The Sun, United are now closing in on the signing of the 22-year-old for £40million.

Old Trafford officials will be in Amsterdam on Tuesday to finalise a deal for Antony.

The six-cap Brazil international has a strong bond with Ten Hag and posted a farewell message to his manager as he left Ajax.

Antony said: “I want to wish you all the best at your new club, I also want to thank you for everything you taught me.

“I am thankful all the opportunities and learning every day. “Know that I will always stand with you if you need me.”

The Sun further claims in its report that Ten Hag wants as many as five new signings in his first summer transfer window as United boss.

Antony is an exciting winger who the Red Devils hope can solve their issues on the right of their attack.

Should they get the deal over the line, they can look forward with confidence knowing one signing is already in the bag.

However, there is a lot more work to do, especially in midfield, before Ten Hag can be happy with his team.
