The Sun ran a report tonight on the back of receiving information from a source, although they do not clarify whether it’s someone close to the club or Ten Hag.

Either way the source is convinced the Dutchman is the perfect fit for the Red Devils, even drawing comparisons to Sir Alex Ferguson.

The report claims Ten Hag has sent the first-team players an email, telling them that football is a team game and no egos will be tolerated. It’s clear that he needs to shake up the dressing room which has lacked leadership in a number of departments.

A source told The Sun: “The new gaffer sent the first-team players an email, telling them that football is a team game and no individual is more important than any other.

“His emphasis is all on the team – despite United possessing world class stars. “He wants the players to train at a higher intensity so that each season is like a game.

“The players have been told that their fitness levels will be the best they have ever been and that if they stick with him and back him, they will be fine. If not, they will be out the door.

“They will be drilled and drilled until they get it right. And if they can’t he’ll replace them with some of the promising youngsters.”

The suggestion that Ten Hag is willing to look at the youth team if his stars continue to underperform next season is a welcome one. These players must feel the consequences of their displays especially if they don’t reach their expectations.
