Tottenham have reportedly held talks with Marcus Rashford and his representatives over a shock move to north London this summer but Manchester United’s prohibitive price tag means any transfer this summer looks unlikely.
The 24-year-old attacker has just drawn the curtain on something of a season to forget. He managed just five goals and two assists as he struggled to recapture the form for which he had made his name. Indeed, he was in and out of the United side as he struggled to convince Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and then Ralf Rangnick he was worthy of a start.
That incredible loss of form together with that of many of his teammates saw United labour to a sixth-placed finish. For Rashford, it also saw him lose his place in the England squad.
But closer to home, there were reports that Rashford feared for his long-term future at Old Trafford. To that end, he reportedly held talks with Rangnick to see whether he was still wanted or not.
However, it seems Rashford and his agents have taken matters into their own hands if reports are to be believed. Italian super-agent Roberto De Fanti, whose clients include Spurs defender Japhet Tanganga, claims Rashford’s advisors have spoken with Tottenham over a sensational move.

To that end, De Fanti claims Manchester United are seeking between £70m – £80m for the forward.
That’s a fee well beyond what Tottenham are willing to pay, though the picture could change come summer 2023.
“I can also confirm that there have been some discussions very recently between the player’s camp and Tottenham Hotspur. The London club feel negotiating a deal for Rashford is virtually impossible though. So that transfer no longer seems an option.”
De Fanti went on to explain that interest in Rashford remains as high as ever despite his recent difficulties. As such, clubs in Italy and Spain are also reportedly keeping tabs on his situation with regards a future move.
However, with United placing a huge fee on him now, it is seen as a very strong message that the player remains very much a part of their plans.
