Manchester United are reportedly paying close attention to Derby County prospect Malcolm Ebiowei.

United are joined by three other Premier League clubs in tracking the right-winger, with Tottenham Newcastle and Crystal Palace also keen on the player.

But the Daily Mail states that United have two major advantages over their rivals.

Firstly, the fact that Red Devils manager Wayne Rooney has decided to stay on at Derby and could green-light the move.

Secondly, new United assistant manager Steve McClaren still has strong links with Derby, where he worked twice as a manager, and more recently as a technical director and then ‘senior adviser’ until leaving in 2021.

Ebiowei, 18, made 16 appearances for Derby in the Championship this season, scoring once and providing two assists.

The player will soon be a free agent, which is expected to spark a scramble for his services.

While the Rams are keen on keeping him, they are fully aware that Premier League interest will likely be too good to turn down.

Ebiowei plays as a right-winger, a position where United already have two prospects in Amad Diallo and Facundo Pellistri waiting in the wings.

However, that is not expected to deter them from landing the Derby starlet.
