Amid recent reports, Stretford Reds understands that Manchester United and Dean Henderson’s camp are not in talks with any club.

Charlie Bennett, a Chronicle Live reporter recently revealed that the goalkeeper is expected a move to go through in the coming weeks, following a meeting with Newcastle earlier this month.

Bennett tweeted: “Understand Dean Henderson is keen on a Newcastle move and has made it known he prefers a permanent transfer to a loan deal. Also told player’s camp believe a deal is “close” after meeting club representatives in Northumberland last week. #NUFC”

However, as per sources, talk of a deal for Henderson to Newcastle being “close” is wide off the mark.

The Saudi backed Premier League club have yet to discuss a transfer for Henderson, which would create doubt over Martin Dubravka’s future, so it’s too early to imply a deal is close.

This may be one to watch out for in the coming weeks, although Henderson should wait to hear if he is part of Erik ten Hag’s plans moving forward.

If United lose Henderson this summer (permanently or on loan), we will need to sign a back-up keeper at the very least, and we have a number of problems to address in the transfer window.
