Manchester United are keeping tabs on Ajax defender Lisandro Martinez, as Erik ten Hag looks to bolster his defence for next season.
Following links to Jurrien Timber, Antony and Frenkie de Jong in recent weeks, it is clear that Ten Hag is prepared to bring players he’s worked with at Ajax to United in a bid to strengthen the squad.
However, United could be looking at another player currently at Ajax.
According to the Telegraph, Lisandro Martinez has been added to the list of United targets after establishing himself as the cornerstone of Ten Hag’s defence.
If Ten Hag is planning on implementing a fast-paced, possession style, then Martinez could be the ideal signing. The 24-year-old has played in Ten Hag’s system at Ajax, so it shouldn’t take him too long to acclimatise.

Adapting to the Premier League could be a risk, but Ten Hag is unlikely to target players he doesn’t have faith in making the step up.
United’s interest in fellow centre-back Timber is noted, though Martinez may be able to deliver immediate results from day one.
The defence at Manchester United has struggled this season, so targeting defensive players is likely to be high on his priority list.
The 24-year-old, who has three years left on his contract, would be expected to cost at least €30 million and he would be join the likes of Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld in leaving Ajax for the Premier League.
