The Man Utd fullback currently out on loan has thrown down the gauntlet after admitting he’ll “do anything” to become a regular under Erik ten Hag.
The 21-year-old left-back is currently on loan with Norwich City. Williams has generated vital first-team experience this year with 24 league outings to his name. The vast bulk of those appearances have been starts.
United’s defensive issues this season have been there for all to see, and Williams seemingly believes he can provide a solution on the left side.
No 1 left-back Luke Shaw has once again struggled with injury, though the England man’s standards had dipped on last year’s when selected anyway.
Alex Telles, meanwhile, continues to labour when called upon to deputise.
And speaking in Norwich City’s recent matchday programme, Williams outlined his desire to become Ten Hag’s go-to man next season.
“What I want to do next year is play for Manchester United at left back and that’s my job,” said Williams (via the Manchester Evening News).
“That’s what I’m determined to do because it’s my life and I’ll do anything for that.
“I know I can play in this league, and I know I can get to the top and that’s what I want to do.”
