Bruno Fernandes is one of the most creative players on the continent, topping the Premier League and Champions League charts for chances created ahead of Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold and Manchester City’s Jack Grealish.
He has been one of the creative sparks in the United attack and one of the players to have further flourished since the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo with the pair combining to score in the last two matches.
His latest assist came as a piece of brilliance when he backheeled the ball into the path of the 36-year-old who thumped home the equaliser in midweek against Atalanta. As a result of his creativity in Europe, he finished the matchday ahead of Real Madrid’s Vinicius Jr and Dusan Tadic.
So far this season, he has four goals and three assists in the opening 10 Premier League games as well as having four assists in as many matches for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.
As a result, it pits him above Jurgen Klopp’s right-back and the most expensive Englishman.
For his formidable form since arriving at Old Trafford, Fernandes was named on the 30-man shortlist for the Ballon d’Or, racking up scoring 44 goals and providing 32 assists in 94 games in all competitions since January 2020.
“Of course, as a kid, you dream to be in the middle of the best,” he told Manchester United’s official website.
“For me, being nominated for the Ballon d’Or, even if I know I will not win it, makes me feel proud, and for everyone who has been on this long journey [with me]. I’m just really happy for that.”
