A report last night claimed that United have decided to let Paul Pogba run his contract down this season and let him leave for free in the summer, rather than try to get any transfer fee for him in January.
Pogba is out of contract in the summer, and ESPN say United have accepted he won’t sign a new deal at Old Trafford.
The report says United have calculated that he will be worth more to them remaining at Old Trafford in the second half of the season, rather than any fee he would generate in January. It also suggests that United factored in the likelihood of this scenario when agreeing his £89m transfer fee from Juventus and subsequent wages.
