A long-standing interest in West Ham star Declan Rice is expected to facilitate a significant offer sometime shortly.
And, according to the Daily Express, United’s current crop of England players are keen to get Rice on board.
The 22-year-old has made an outstanding start to the new season, coming off his strong showings at Euro 2020.
Indeed, Rice appears to be developing his game at a rapid rate. He looks more dynamic going forward and is also scoring goals – notching twice in the Europa League this season.
United want Rice on board to allow Paul Pogba to play further forward alongside Bruno Fernandes. However, there are also doubts over the long-term future of the France star, who continues to be linked with an exit.
A report in the Independent adds that Rice is actively looking for a way to quit the Hammers. But the major spanner in the works is the £100m valuations that West Ham has on him.
Whether United would be prepared to pay that sort of fee remains to be seen. But if Rice’s trajectory continues to trend upwards, then they might have to bite the bullet to get their man.
