Manchester United may have a golden chance to sign Harry Kane thanks to Manchester City’s desire to sign Jack Grealish. The Premier League champions have made Grealish their top target for the summer transfer window.
City has reportedly proposed a British record-breaking £100million bid for the Aston Villa captain, with Pep Guardiola hopeful of getting the deal over the line.
After completing their move for Grealish, City are keen to then turn their attention to Tottenham striker Kane.
The England captain has demanded a departure from Spurs amid their continuing failure to challenge for silverware.
United was thought to be in a battle with City for the 28-year-old, but the reigning champions edged ahead as the window wore on.
But their prioritising of Grealish could scupper their attempts to bring Kane to the Etihad Stadium.
According to the Manchester Evening News, City will not be able to afford a move for Kane if Grealish does indeed arrive for £100m.
Spurs have slapped an asking price of more than £150m on their star striker, a figure that City is reluctant to meet.
Though City is battling to fund a move, Kane wants out, with the England star currently refusing to attend training until he is granted a move.
That could bring United back into play, with the Red Devils appearing to be the only other team that could realistically pay for Kane.
Having spent £72m on Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho and £42m on Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane, United have the funds required to buy Kane.
With fans still unhappy with the Glazers over the European Super League debacle, bringing in the 28-year-old could also help to get the fans back onside.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would certainly be keen to add Kane to his squad, with the striker the perfect man to confirm their status as Premier League title contenders.
The likes of Anthony Martial, Dan James and Jesse Lingard have all found themselves out of favour and could be used in part exchange for Kane.
If the Glazers want to show that their team is truly capable of winning the first title since 2013, then they should take full advantage of the golden chance City have offered them with Kane.
